Obstacles of Intimacy

Performance still from Obstacles of Intimacy

Video performance piece by Jannat Hussain, Filmed by Yemi Alade.

‘Grace fills empty spaces, but it can only enter where there is a void to receive it, and it is grace itself which makes this void. The imagination is continually at work filling up all the fissures through which grace might pass’. - Gravity and Grace by Simone Weil

The obstacle of being intimate with oneself comes from moments where you feel outside of who you are. Where your essence is in transit and one of the stops is your perceived body. In order to feel whole, you must attempt to fit into this vessel.

You must honour the obstacle. To caress, embrace and touch, is the attempt to understand the inner self.
