LET ME GO

LET ME GO (2022) is a video performance piece by Jannat Hussain. Filmed by Yemi Alade, YEMIOYATO.

Music: Falaise by Floating Points

Continuing Jannat's investigation into intimacy at the intersection of performance and sculpture, LET ME GO speaks on a kind of 'love' and 'care' that is turbulent. The stretching between giving and receiving, being held, stuck, clung to. Loving in constant friction and flow. But also moments of freedom and genuine embrace. Natural elements are reckoned with as the red painted fabric personifying love is brought to life by it's celestial interactions with the body, wind and rain.

‘Wind is a natural phenomenon that plays on the entire sensorium of the body. Wind is tactile. Wind can be heard. Wind carries scents. Wind is a cosmic breath that envelopes and penetrates us. Wind nourishes or destroys… Wind brings life to which is ‘still’
